The Story

The Xandros has established itself as one of the most sought-after knives in our lineup — an S90V reverse tanto that redefined what a production folder could deliver. Its reception far exceeded our expectations. The Xandros Lightning is our response to that demand. The same blade, the same precision engineering, now dressed in a finish that commands its own attention.

The Blade

At the heart of the Xandros lies S90V — a powder metallurgy steel that few manufacturers commit to, given its cost and the exacting demands of proper heat treatment. We chose it for a reason. Heat-treated to 60–62 HRC with a full flat grind, the blade sustains a working edge through extended daily use and restores effortlessly with a few passes on fine ceramics.

The 3.23" reverse tanto profile pairs a reinforced tip for precision piercing with an ample belly for everyday cutting tasks. Each blade features a hand-rubbed satin finish across the primary bevel, contrasted by a DLC-coated flat — two finishes applied by hand, producing a subtle draw pattern unique to artisanal craftsmanship.

The Handle

The Lightning takes its name from the Lightning Purple 6AL4V titanium handle — an aerospace-grade alloy anodized to a finish that shifts between deep violet and electric blue with changing light. The effect is striking in person, refined in its execution.

Weighing just 3.1 oz, the Xandros carries unobtrusively yet sits with full presence in hand. The titanium scale is finished to a clean, smooth surface — the anodized finish alone delivers striking chromatic depth, eliminating the need for additional texturing.

Titanium extends throughout the build — the backspacer, pocket clip, and every screw are machined from 6AL4V. Each screw receives a DLC coating, which adds a subtle dark accent against the Lightning Purple while also enhancing surface hardness. It is a standard we hold across the Xandros line, appreciated by those who recognize the distinction.

Deployment & Lock

Dual deployment options provide versatility without compromise. The front flipper engages with a crisp, authoritative action — the ball-bearing pivot delivering a smooth, controlled deployment. The thumb hole offers an alternative opening method, engineered with the same precision.

A titanium frame lock secures the blade with solid, unwavering lockup — with no flex and zero uncertainty.
